Ingredients

  • 1 cup raisins

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp. baking soda

  • 1 tsp. salt

  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp. ground cloves

  • 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg

  • 1 cup butter or margarine

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup white sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tsp. vanilla

  • 2 cups rolled oats

  • 1 cup walnuts chopped

Directions

  • Soak raisins in 1 cup hot water for ten minutes. Drain raisins and reserve 1/3 cup raisin liquid. Mix flour, baking soda, salt cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg in a bowl.
  • Cream sugar and butter in another bowl. Mix in 1/3 cup raisin liquid. Blend in eggs and vanilla.
  • Slowly add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Stir in oatmeal. Stir in walnuts. Stir in raisins.
  • Drop by heaping tablespoon (or a small scoop) onto a cooking oil sprayed cookie sheet. Bake in a preheated 350ºF oven for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
