Old Ranch Beans are a taste of the Old West. This hearty recipe combines cowboy favorites such as beef, onion, green chilies and of course beans. These beans are good for either dinner or for lunch either as a side dish or a main dish.

Ingredients
1/2 lb. ground beef
1/2 medium size onion chopped
26 oz. can ranch style beans
1/3 can water (from beans can)
4 oz. green chiles diced
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
red pepper sauce to taste
grated cheese
Directions
- In skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef until no longer pink. Drain excess fat from beef. Sauté onions with beef until slightly tender.
- In a large saucepan combine beans, water, green chiles, brown sugar, garlic powder and red pepper sauce. Add beef mixture to bean mixture. Simmer for 20-30 minutes.
- Serve with grated cheese if desired.
