  • 1 package dried figs

  • 1 package walnut or pecan halves

  • 12 oz. package semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • chopped nuts

  • flaked coconut

  • chocolate gimmies

  • cocoa powder

Directions

  • Place a walnut piece in each fig.
  • Softening Figs: If your figs are hard, soak them in warm water for 10 minutes, then pat dry before stuffing.
  • Over a double boiler, gently melt the chocolate chips. Remove chocolate from heat.
  • Dip each fig into the chocolate mixture using a fork until 2/3 coated. Roll figs in chopped nuts coconut, chocolate gimmies or cocoa powder.
  • Place figs on parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Chill in refrigerator until chocolate sets.
  • Tempering: If you want the chocolate to have a shiny finish and a “snap,” you can temper it (heat to a specific temp, cool, then reheat slightly). For this recipe, simple melting works fine, but tempering makes them last longer at room temp.
