Banana Frosty, a Nostalgic Favorite similar to Wendy’s Frosty
Ingredients
3/4 cup cold milk
1 banana halved
4 regular scoops vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt slightly softened
Directions
- Blend milk and banana in a large blender until smooth.
- Consistency Check: If it’s too thick to blend, add a splash more milk. If it’s too thin, add a few more ice cream scoops or a handful of ice cubes.
- Gradually add ice cream or frozen yogurt and blend again. Top with whipped cream. Makes 3 1/2 cups.
- Customizable: You can easily turn this into a Chocolate Frosty by adding 1 tbsp of cocoa powder or chocolate syrup during the blend.
- Blender Power: As the recipe notes, this requires a high-power blender (like a Vitamix or Ninja) if using frozen fruit. Standard blenders may struggle or require you to stop and stir frequently.
- Thawing is Key:Â The instruction to let the frozen banana thaw for 5 minutes is vital. It softens the fruit just enough to be chopped by the blades without turning the mixture into a solid block.
Notes
- For an extra thick frosty use a frozen banana and 1 cup milk. This recipe is only recommended if a high-power blender is used and banana is in chunks. The frozen banana should be thawed out for a minimum of 5 minutes. Mixture, if too frozen, might have to be thawed for a few minutes before blending more.
